The sacrament of Baptism is the “initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s body” (Book of Common Prayer). Through Baptism, a person becomes part of the church and is adopted as a child of God. Christ Church Cranbrook believes that Baptism is a “community event” and that in welcoming newly baptized people into the church community or family, we all accept the responsibility of helping that person grow in their life and commitment to Christ. In addition, during the Baptism, we all renew our Baptismal covenant to remind ourselves of our own commitment and responsibilities ( and privileges!)
