April Salon Concert ~ “Boogie-woogie piano” April 11, 2012

Matthew Ball, boogie-woogie piano
Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the Guild Hall
Described as “the Gen-X arrival to the uniquely American art-form of boogie-woogie” by The Ann Arbor News, Matthew Ball is a graduate of Oakland University and the University of Detroit School of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in both Music and History as well as a Juris Doctorate in Law. Licensed as an attorney in Michigan in 1998, Matthew practiced law only a short time when he attended a Motor City Boogie-Woogie Festival in the fall of 2001 that would reshape his life. Awestruck by the performances he heard that evening and discouraged with law, Matthew left his career as an attorney to become a blues and boogie-woogie performing artist under the tutelage of Detroit legend, Bob Seeley. Matthew has produced three CD’s and two music books. In addition to his music endeavors, he is a published poet and children’s book author.
All are welcome! This concert is free, but donations are appreciated.
