Christ Church Cranbrook Social Groups
2012-13 Program Year
Christ Church Cranbrook Social Groups provide an opportunity for people to get to know one another on a more personal basis, outside of the hustle and bustle of the typical work and school schedule. Groups of 8-10 people choose dates, about once a month, to get together over a meal. These gatherings can be in private homes, at restaurants, or even based around attendance at an art performance. Here is how the process works:
- Sign up to participate
- The committee forms the groups and notifies people of who their group members are
- One person offers to host the first event
- The group members set dates for the remainder of the year
- The rest is up to the group!
The main idea of this ministry is to keep things simple, develop new friendships, and simply get to know one another a little bit better.
The role of the host is to arrange the get-together. For instance, it might be that the group has decided to go out to dinner. The host will make the reservation and contact everyone. In these cases, the dinners are expected to be “Dutch treat” so that no one experiences the burden of the full financial cost. In other instances, the host may want to invite the group to his or her home for a gathering. Members of the group are expected to bring some part of the dinner, again so that the cost of the event is shared. The host would make the determination of what each member should contribute to the meal.
Having a small circle of friends with whom we can break bread with from time to time is really a nice way to feel more a part of the Christ Church Cranbrook family. Consider this opportunity to get to know your fellow parishioners.
We will be forming groups in mid-September, and would love to see lots of people participating.
