FAQs…How We Serve God By Serving Others

What’s so different about CCC Mission & Outreach in 2019?
CCC has historically supported many non-profit organizations throughout the metro area. For 2019 we have decided on one geographical area- our Pontiac
neighbors– in hopes of magnifying the impact of our support. Our five Pontiac “Community Partners” provide many
opportunities for service throughout the year.

So who are the “Community Partners” and what can we do for them? The following Community Partners receive a financial grant of assistance from CCC and offer wonderful ongoing opportunities for hands-on volunteers from our parish:

Bound Together:
Provide volunteer tutors for an after school elementary tutoring program during the school year.

All Saints Episcopal Church:
Serve Saturday breakfast year round;
assist in providing fresh produce at Saturday farmers market.

Baldwin Center:
Serve meals 2 days per month; assist in other areas like their donated clothing closet.

Oakland County Jail:
Provide lay chaplain and pastoral care services for inmates.

Micah 6:
Assist in urban farming and building projects dedicated to revitalizing an impoverished neighborhood.

What about Detroit?

Rest assured, we are not abandoning other worthwhile projects in metro Detroit! We will support one-time or short-term service projects with organizations in our area.  These projects we call “Servant Saturdays” (although they may not always be on Saturday and may require more than one day to complete!).

What kind of “Servant Saturdays”
projects need help?

A few examples of planned projects include:
Keep Growing Detroit: Planting, April 27

Sanctum House Garden Beautification:  gardening/landscaping, May 18

Crossroads Soup Kitchen: August 25,
serving meals

South Oakland Shelter: Sep 29-Oct 6,
homeless hospitality

I don’t have much time…how can I find out about what projects are planned?
The easiest way to find out more about all of these opportunities is to go to the church website under the “SERVE” tab or click on this link for available opportunities and to sign up quickly.

How can I get our congregation involved?

I know of a great opportunity to help an organization that isn’t on the list of partners or projects.

This is what Servant Saturdays is all about!  While we have a substantial variety of organizations and projects receiving our support, we are always open to considering worthy projects that would benefit from our parish community involvement. If you would like to be a champion for a project and carry it out from start to finish with the help of the Mission and Outreach Committee, please send a short
description or proposal to the Mission & Outreach Standing Committee via Pastor Manisha Dostert. Funding is available.

God needs our hearts and devotion…our neighbors need our hands and our support!  Bless you for making the work of Mission and Outreach a part of your Christian faith.
