The book club will be meeting on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 7 PM via ZOOM. We are meeting a week later in June because of the Memorial Day holiday.
The selection for May is: “Persuasion” by Jane Austen.
“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope…I have loved none but you.” ― Jane Austen, “Persuasion“
“Persuasion” is the last novel fully completed by Jane Austen. It was published at the end of 1817, six months after her death. The story concerns Anne Elliot, a young Englishwoman of twenty-seven years who was engaged to Captain Wentworth, but the engagement was broken when Anne was “persuaded” by her friends and family to end the relationship. Anne and Captain Wentworth, both single and unattached, meet again after a seven-year separation, setting the scene for many humorous encounters as well as a second, well-considered chance at love and marriage for Anne in her second “bloom”.
This book club is open to all, and we hope you will join us!
