Rebecca (1940) is based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier and stars Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. This renowned adaptation of the novel was Alfred Hitchcock’s first American production and it received an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1940. It is a riveting story of a young newlywed who arrives at her husband’s imposing family estate on a windswept English coast and finds herself battling the shadow of the first wife, Rebecca.
