A Preview of this Sunday’s Founder’s Day Exhibit

By: Laura MacNewman

I’m Laura MacNewman and am both a member of Christ Church and an archivist at Cranbrook. To celebrate the centennial anniversary of the groundbreaking of Christ Church in July, I curated a selection of items from across the archives to tell the story of the discernment that led to the founding of our beautiful church in the Episcopal Diocese which will be on display this coming Sunday morning (September 28) after the 10 A.M. service.

I invite you to join us to celebrate the beginning of this parish and house of worship that the Booth family generously gifted to this community. This archival exhibit includes letters, photographs, and architectural drawings that document the faith, vision, and prudence of the founders together with an archival vignette of our first Rector, the Rev. Dr. Samuel S. Marquis, to whom Booth turned for guidance in founding Christ Church and the other Cranbrook institutions.

Read the story here and I hope to see you this Sunday!
