The Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple centers around the story of the Prophet Simeon seeing the child Jesus in the temple. Nicknamed “Candlemas” because of the association with candles, this service of Evening Prayer begins with a candle-lit procession and the words of Simeon as he saw Jesus. The Christ Church Choir leads this music-filled service with choral selections by Johannes Eccard, Charles Wood, Kenneth Leighton, and contemporary composer Sarah MacDonald. This is a beautiful occasion to remind us of Christ as light shining in darkness!
