Join us for a fun Mardi Gras themed family night in the atrium, where we will eat delicious food and play fun games, all while celebrating Shrove Tuesday! “Shrove Tuesday” is the name given to the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of liturgical season of Lent. At Christ Church Cranbrook, we celebrate this night with the burning of palm leaves in an outdoor bonfire built by members and Father Bill will lead us in a liturgy to prepare us for Lent. The palm leaves come from last year’s “Palm Sunday” parade and serve as a reminder that these branches, once symbols of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, dry up, are changed to ash, and so become something new as symbols of the cross and resurrection.
