Join a Ministry

From providing music to planning events and volunteer opportunities to praying over those in need, there are a multitude of ways you can get involved at Christ Church Cranbrook. We welcome any and all who are interested in joining any of our ministries with open arms.

High Schooler and middle school youth can serve the church by becoming an Acolyte. This program trains young people in the beauty and tradition of worship services, with each acolyte playing a vital role in congregational worship.

The Altar Guild works behind the scenes to prepare the Altar for Eucharist before our various services, as well as for Weddings and Funerals.  Training is available – newcomers are always welcome!

I’m interested in joining the Altar Guild

Handbells are an excellent opportunity for those who are musically inclined (basic music reading skills are necessary!), but are not interested in singing.  This group will ring in church several times throughout the year, in addition to taking their show on the road to local venues that might not otherwise be able to hear live music regularly.

Docents conduct tours of the church and chapels for large and small groups.

The Engagement Committee helps organize events throughout the year to promote fellowship and community as well as to help connect members through small groups, social events and various ministries.  We meet monthly to plan events (like this Ministry Fair!).

Assist in the Eucharist by administering the chalice. Open to confirmed adults and youth over age 16.

I’m interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister

Eucharistic Visitors are lay persons who receive specific training and are licensed by the bishop to take Consecrated Elements from the Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity or other limiting factors, are unable to be present at the Eucharistic Celebration.

Flower Guild creates floral arrangements on our altars, in our worship spaces and elsewhere in the church, as well as for preparing bouquets for lay visitors to take to folks who are homebound or at the hospital. You sign up ahead of time and serve only on the weeks that you can. Training is available – all welcome!

A group of parishioners who welcome attendees before and after each weekend service.

I’m interested in becoming a Greeter

Anoint, pray and lay hands on individuals who seek healing during Communion in St. Paul’s Chapel at the 10 AM service.

I’m interested in becoming a Healing Minister

This is a lay ministry that offers prayers and anointing for those who are seeking prayers of healing and hope. If you are new to this kind of prayerful, pastoral ministry, training is available.

I’m interested in becoming a Healing Prayer Minister

The Hospitality Ministry is a group of volunteers who serve in an ‘as needed’ basis for special events at the Christ Church Cranbrook, particularly anything involving food and hosting!  A great ministry for anyone who loves a good party and hosting events!

Lay Visitors are part of the church’s pastoral care ministry. They visit those who are unable to come to church (the sick, bereaved, and homebound) to be a pastoral presence and to help them feel connected to their spiritual home.

I’m interested in becoming a Lay Visitor

Lectors read the lessons from Hebrew Bible and New Testament as well as lead us in the Psalms. You read at the services of your choice, based on your own availability — approximately once every 6 to 8 weeks. Training is available — newcomers welcome!

I’m interested in becoming a Lector

This is a fellowship group for LGBTQ+, as well as friends, allies and family. We organize events such as the CCC booth at Pride, host movie nights, Sunday brunches, occasional speakers and who knows what else! Bring your ideas and your friends!

I’m interested in joining Love Wins

Volunteering to walk alongside people in our community is one of the privileges of the life well-lived. Join the ministry that coordinates and executes all the volunteer opportunities available at CCC.

I’m interested in joining the Mission & Outreach Ministry

Our choir and guest instrumentalists serve to inspire the congregation to worship God in song and to enhance our experience of God’s presence in the beauty of our majestic Sanctuary.

Help is often needed to answer phones, organize files, proofread, stuff envelopes, input data and other administrative tasks.

I’m interested in becoming an Office Volunteer

This small group meets monthly to send prayer cards and personal notes to those on the church prayer list, as well as those who are ill or bereaved.

I’m interested in joining the Prayer Card Ministry

Knit beautiful shawls for those who are ill or celebrating a milestone. The shawls are blessed by the priest and are delivered to parishioners. You don’t need to know how to knit to join this ministry!

I’m interested in joining the Prayer Shawl Ministry

A group of parishioners who welcome and escort worshipers into the nave, distribute bulletins and collect the offering.

I’m interested in becoming an Usher

Join the team of lay ministers who lead the worship processions, making room for the procession to enter the church.

I’m interested in becoming a Verger

The Welcome Team serves once a month to staff our Welcome Table and serves as Ushers during services. A wonderful ministry if you like to meet people and help newcomers feel welcome!
