JOYCE MATTHEWS
Priest Emerita & Pastoral Care Senior Associate
Pastor Joyce joined Christ Church Cranbrook in 2005 and served as an Associate Rector until her retirement in 2018. Joyce currently serves on the Diocesan Council and has served on several other committees for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan: Vice President of Whitaker Institute Board, Healing Racism trainer and the President of the Standing Committee. Joyce was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from U of M where she graduated with distinction with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education, she gained a wealth of experience in healthcare. Her breadth of knowledge in the respiratory therapy field earned her the opportunity to be the director of respiratory Therapy programs at several area hospitals. Pastor Matthew has also been an educator at the University of Detroit and Highland Park Community College and part of the adjunct faculty for the University of Michigan School of Education and Wayne State School of Anesthesiology. She received her Master in Divinity degree from Seabury Western Theological Seminary in 2005. Joyce is married to Lauriant and they have two daughters, Renee, a medical doctor in Chicago, Illinois and Alycia, a manufacturing operations manager for the DuPont Corporation in Valdosta, Georgia. Joyce and Lauriant reside in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
