Rich's wife, Betsy, passed away in 2021. He is a lifelong Episcopalian and has attended CCC for many years, formally joining in 1984 after the birth of his son Andrew, who now lives in Avon, Connecticut, with his six-year-old daughter Eleanor. Rich's daughter Katie lives in Troy with her partner Laura and daughter Isabella, age three, and triplets Liam, Sophia, and Trevor, age one. He taught computer science at Cranbrook Schools for over forty years, retiring in 2019. At church, he has been a lay reader and Eucharistic Minister and has served as a committee chair for Service and Outreach for the last few years.
