“It’s a Gift”

By David Jensen

Anyone who has eyes to see could conclude it’s a crazy world out there.  Things are changing faster than we can keep up. It is as if we are being swept along by a raging river toward…..no one has a clue about what lies ahead.

So where do we fit into this picture? We are all being swept along in the flow of this river whether we like it or not.  We are a part of the human race. But if you take a closer look not everyone is responding with fear. There are some people who seem to know all about the events we are facing at this point and they are not afraid.

Who are these who are not afraid?  For all of our earthly problems and troubles, there are those people who face these types of days with peace, because they have Eternity inside them.  They have God inside them in a way that others may not. They know God in a way that others do not. They see the world and these circumstances with a different set of eyes.

To have God living within us, is a gift. All we have to do is receive it like the Samaritan woman at the well, who opened her heart to Jesus and said, “Lord, give me that living water!”.  God begins to fill the emptiness inside us with his mercy, and all that he asks of us is that we use that mercy toward each other and toward all people.

We have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the privilege of living in these times.  I pray that we would take the time to listen to what God is saying. That we be responsive to others in ways we have never been before, that we would find time to pray for those who are gravely impacted by the events of these days.  That we reach out to each other in new ways.

We cannot avoid the necessary confusion and necessary problems that accompany the miracle of change and growth, but if we are faithful in the truths we have been taught:

To watch and pray

To worship God

While we serve one another

And to be about the work of the Kingdom of God in this world, then a stability rooted in heaven will emerge among us.
