Grace-filled Welcome

By Ed Burke

One of the ministries that I so enjoy participating in is the “Welcome Ambassadors.” We are the folks with the big red “Welcome!” stickers who greet people at the door, pass out bulletins and help usher folks to a seat when needed. As a result, I am often at the entrance, where I get to see firsthand how Christ Church Cranbrook is creating a “space for grace” for longtime members and first-time visitors alike.  There are hugs, handshakes, and laughter — it’s a truly joyous ministry!

One of the things I love about Christ Church Cranbrook is the diversity – people of all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life are a part of this church and we are so blessed because of it!  And it’s just a joy to see so many families with young children coming back to worship as a family. I pray that we will always be there to help make sure that a newcomer’s first impression is a positive one and that they leave here knowing what those of us who have been here for years learned long ago – this a special place!

I am increasing my pledge this year because I want to do my small part to help ensure that Christ Church Cranbrook will be able to continue to grow and to continue to strengthen its ministries in the face of inflation and the rising costs of services and utilities. As a member of the vestry, I am also aware of how important pledging is to enable us to plan the programs and services we hope to offer, compensate our hardworking staff and clergy, and make bold plans for the next calendar year.  I hope you will join me and make your pledge today!

We invite everyone who considers Christ Church Cranbrook your spiritual home to consider making a pledge to support our mission and ministry in 2023.
