Space Within

By Linda Truxell, Stewardship Co-Chair

Space For Grace for me means space within – space to be still, to breathe deeply, to mentally relax, and allow sacred space to open up for communion with God.
Space within can be created in any physical space, whether it is in church, on an airplane, at home, or taking a nature walk.

However, experiencing the daily disappointments of life such as stress, fear, and anxiety work to diminish the space within us. Our thinking processes can become narrowly focused on our problems, and we busy ourselves trying to find solutions. We can analyze, fret and worry, trying to solve the problem. We can fall into the trap of self-sufficiency instead of turning the problem and our life over to God. He is the ultimate problem solver, one who has the perfect solution and the best ultimate outcome for us.

When we allow the space within us to expand and broaden, we create opportunities for spiritual transformation. Our minds begin to focus on thankfulness and gratitude for the blessings of God’s grace.

My pledge is a part of the Space For Grace and the transformation I’ve had since joining Christ Church Cranbrook. The energy, sincerity, and integrity of our clergy and staff have made an enormous difference in my life. I’ve learned and grown in faith from sermons, adult formation sessions, serving on committees, participating in events, and being in fellowship with other members of our wonderful family of Christ. Pledging for me is a personal covenant with God to support the work of our church and the wider communities we serve. Every pledge blesses the church and strengthens our relationship with God and with one another in the community with Christ. Pledging is a response to personally finding “space within” that also allows Space for Grace for others.

We invite everyone who considers Christ Church Cranbrook your spiritual home to consider making a pledge to support our mission and ministry in 2023.
