While working at Christ Church Cranbrook for my Cranbrook Senior May Project, my three-week-long internship at the church, I noticed all of the wonderful work that goes into making every service and event run smoothly. What appears effortless from the outside is actually the result of dedicated people working behind the scenes with intention and care. At the End of the Year Party on Sunday, Ms. Tiffany worked diligently to ensure everything was perfect for lunch. Listening closely to her vision on where to place each plate of food was intriguing, and it reminded me that even the smallest details carry meaning when done with love.
During our last Sunday School, Ms. Kellie’s kindness, understanding, and joy made everyone feel truly special. Her warmth creates a space where kids feel safe to learn, grow, and simply be themselves. For me, I am making a worthwhile contribution by creating Bible Buddies for Vacation Bible School and crafting decorations that will bring the space to life. Ms. Kellie always gives generous instructions and encouragement when I paint.
Recently, I finished one of the Bible Buddies, Dottie the Ocelot, working only from a reference image. Ms. Kellie was so impressed and moved by the result that she brought three staff members over to see my work. That moment meant more to me than I expected. It was a reminder that showing up fully, even in a small role, can make a huge impact and improvement. But what makes Christ Church Cranbrook feel like home isn’t just the love shown by the wonderful staff; it’s also the friendships and smiles shared by both longtime members and new faces, all coming together to build a community rooted in joy and belonging.
