The Rev. Canon Dr. William J. Danaher, Jr. is Rector of Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Canon for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan. Previously, he was Dean of the Faculty of Theology and the Huron-Lawson Chair of Pastoral and Moral Theology at Huron University College in London, Ontario, Associate Professor in the John Henry Hobart Chair in Moral Theology at General Seminary in New York City, New York, and Associate Professor of Theology and Ethics at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. In 2016, he was named Pastor of the Year by the Metropolitan Christian Council of Detroit and Windsor. In 2014, he was named a Luce Fellow in Theology by the Association of Theological Schools. In 2004, he was made a member of the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, New Jersey, and in 2004, we also received the Bishop Hines Award for Preaching, a national award for sermons that connect the Scriptures with current social justice issues. He received his Ph.D. in Religious Ethics from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, his M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, and his A.B. in History from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. His publications explore the intersection of theology, ethics, and, most recently, the arts.

Manisha Dostert

Pastor Manisha is responsible for coordinating and developing the church’s mission and outreach activities, caring for the communications and IT of the church as well as overseeing the pastoral care of the congregation.

Pastor Manisha Dostert grew up as a Jain (a religion from India) and was baptized in the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod (LCMS) at the age of twenty-six. After working in a lab at Duke University researching the immunological characteristics of sickle cell anemia (she has a B.S. in Biology from Penn State), she received a Master of Divinity at Duke and was ordained in 2002 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She has served various congregations in North Carolina and Michigan. Most recently, she was part of Spirit of Grace Church in West Bloomfield, MI, a Lutheran-Episcopal community formed from three churches.

Pastor Manisha loves the Church. She believes there is no better way to live than being part of a community that is diverse, universal, subversive and transcendent. She sees it as a place where all can operate out of the joy, hope, mercy, forgiveness and love that God abundantly gives.

She is married to Troy, a history teacher at Cranbrook Schools, who has a Ph.D. in Political Philosophy from Duke and reviews free jazz in his free time. Their son is Miles.

The Reverend Imogen Rhodenhiser is responsible for participating in worship and pastoral ministries. Pastor Imogen’s areas of concentration include worship and liturgy, children and youth ministries, preparation for the rites of confirmation and baptism, and spiritual formation.

Pastor Imogen was born in Ottawa, Canada, to English parents and spent her childhood in Connecticut and her adolescence in England. After graduating from the University of St. Andrews with an M.A. in English and Italian, she worked for the publisher W. W. Norton & Company, and was based in New York City and then Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In 2010, she began discerning a call to the priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan as a member of St. Clare’s Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor, where she served as the co-chair of the Stewardship Commission, as well as on the Vestry.

Pastor Imogen spent three years serving congregations in North Carolina. She graduated with an M.Div. from Duke Divinity School and was ordained to the priesthood in 2016. Her joy lies in building up the beloved Body of Christ, proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to all God’s children, and serving God’s Church in humility and sincerity.

Pastor Imogen’s other loves include singing, running, and pouring over languages, both ancient and modern. She is married to Giles, an attorney, and they have a son named George and a German Shepherd mix called Vivian.

Chris Harris comes to Christ Church Cranbrook from San Diego, California. Chris serves The Episcopal Church as a member of the Board of Directors of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS) and as a member of the steering team for Invite-Welcome-Connect, a national evangelism ministry. Chris is also the creator of Living Wi$ley, a faith and personal finance ministry and is a national speaker on congregational development topics, including The Consortium for Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP), The Episcopal Church Foundation (EFC), and Evangelism Matters. Chris is married to Joe, a native of Sterling Heights, Michigan. Chris and his husband have two twin girls, Gianna and Aleena.

Pastor Joyce joined Christ Church Cranbrook in 2005 and served as an Associate Rector until her retirement in 2018. Joyce currently serves on the Diocesan Council and has served on several other committees for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan: Vice President of Whitaker Institute Board, Healing Racism trainer and the President of the Standing Committee.

Joyce was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from U of M where she graduated with distinction with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education, she gained a wealth of experience in healthcare. Her breadth of knowledge in the respiratory therapy field earned her the opportunity to be the director of respiratory Therapy programs at several area hospitals. Pastor Matthew has also ben an educator at the University of Detroit and Highland Park Community College and part of the adjunct faculty for the University of Michigan School of Education and Wayne State School of Anesthesiology.

She received her Master in Divinity degree from Seabury Western Theological Seminary in 2005.

Joyce is married to Lauriant and they have two daughters, Renee, a medical doctor in Chicago, Illinois and Alycia, a manufacturing operations manager for the DuPont Corporation in Valdosta, Georgia.  Joyce and Lauriant reside in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Jill Bednas was born and raised in Michigan and holds a degree in Communications from Michigan State University. She was confirmed and then married at Christ Church Cranbrook in 2001 to Scott Bednas, a lifelong Episcopalian.

They have two boys, (Pierce and Reece) and recently moved from Glen Ellyn, Illinois back to Michigan to be closer to their families. Jill was very involved in her former church, St. Mark’s Episcopal church, during the eleven years they lived there. She taught middle school Sunday School, helped build the St. Mark’s Preschool and lead the Parish Life hospitality ministry before taking a staff position as Director of Children’s Ministries in 2011.

For the past three and a half years Jill successfully lead and grew the children’s programs, offering formation from nursery through fifth grade at all three services, including a new Spanish Language Service.

Lanette has recently joined Christ Church Cranbrook as the new Bookkeeper. She brings with her over 15 years of business experience along with a Bachelor degree in Sociology and an MBA in Finance.

Lanette and husband James, have 4 children ranging in age from 6 through 19. The eldest currently attends University of Michigan, while the younger children are all still in grade school. Lanette, being a devout Christian, is excited about working for Christ Church Cranbrook, and although her and her family are members elsewhere, they are all eager to participate in CCC functions and fellowship.

Originally from Grosse Pointe, Janice received a degree in Communications from Michigan State University and was a member of the Spartan Marching Band. During her career, Janice lived in Colorado for 10 years, working in the ski and hospitality industries, teaching ski lessons and meeting guests from around the world. She has also worked in the nonprofit sector, and the automotive marketing and retirement benefit industries.

Outside of her career, Janice has been an avid volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Less Cancer 300 Mile Bicycle Ride, HAVEN, the American Cancer Society’s Laps for Life Carve Out Cancer event, and various ski-related fundraisers that support Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Programs.

Janice now resides in Berkley with her two teenage boys who attend Berkley High School, is still an avid Spartan fan and loves music. Janice is appreciative to be part of the staff at CCC and looks forward to greeting the visitors, church members and volunteers that contribute to our fourfold vision, as she finds delight in being one of the many faces of God working at CCC!

Anthony earned his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphases on Business and Religion from Rochester College in Rochester Hills, MI. He serves as a liturgist and deploys digital communications technology to further the mission and vision of CCC. Anthony is a Candidate for Ordination to the Priesthood in The Episcopal Church.

Kate was born and raised in the Presbyterian Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Kate along with her husband, Albie, became members of Christ Church Cranbrook a little more than three years ago. Kate and Albie have two sons, Nate and Sam.

Kate has had involvement in children and youth ministry for her whole life – from a participant many years ago – to more recently, a Sunday school teacher at CCC with grades 2 and 3. She has also been a leader on youth mission trips.

Kate studied Architecture at Miami of Ohio and worked a number of years in the industry coordinating efforts for the launch successful projects. She has an eye for creative design and a love of photography – her passion for connecting people and places to foster a cohesive community brings her great joy.

Donna has extensive experience with handbells and is an expert in this field. She served in the same capacity at Birmingham First Presbyterian Church for 15 years and was also a 12-year member of the renowned handbell ensemble, Classical Bells. Donna is a specialist in the repair and maintenance of handbells and was employed in this capacity for many years with Schulmerich Bells, LLC.

Donna lives with her husband, Patrick, in Clawson and works for BASF. In her free time, she loves to participate in cross-fit, gardening, bird watching and baking.

Christopher Wells is from Annapolis, Maryland, where he began his organ studies with James Dale at the United States Naval Academy. Mr. Wells received his undergraduate degree in organ performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music on the Dean’s Talent Grant. During these years, he absorbed elements of the Anglican tradition serving as Organ Scholar at Saint Paul’s (K Street) in Washington, D.C. and taking lessons at Washington National Cathedral. Mr. Wells took his Master’s in organ from the University of Michigan as a student of Robert Glasgow. While there, Mr. Wells also served as Assistant Organist at Christ Church, Cranbrook, in Bloomfield Hills from 1999-2002. In addition to
accompanying Christ Church’s four choirs, he was soloist for Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings as well as the premieres of Enid Sutherland’s Alpha and Emma Lou Diemer’s In Hope We Sing, Alleluia!. Starting in 2002, Mr. Wells was the Director of Music and Organist at Christ Church, Bronxville, where he directed a comprehensive music program of five choirs. He was the founding
director of SHA!cappella, Bronxville’s acclaimed a cappella ensemble. As a recitalist, he has appeared in many venues across the country, among them Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Saint Thomas Fifth Avenue, and the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, all in New York City.

Christopher is now back at Christ Church Cranbrook where he has recently assumed the position of Music Director and Organist and directs the Christ Church Cranbrook Choir. The choir leads the congregation in singing and presents prepared anthems at the on the second, fourth, and fifth Sundays from September through June; as well as holiday services, special concerts and other events. The Christ Church Cranbrook Choir is a widely acclaimed advanced ensemble that sings a greatly varied repertoire, including a significant amount of standard sacred choral literature from all periods of music.

Nathan Costa

Prior to his work at St. Bartholomew’s, Nathan had served at St. Andrew’s School, an Episcopal boarding school in Middletown, Delaware, for 17 years where as Organist-Choirmaster he led the St. Andrew’s Choral Scholars in chapel music and in a Royal School of Church Music training program adapted for high school students. The Choral Scholars regularly sang in churches throughout the mid-Atlantic and made concert tours to Cuba, Eastern Europe, and the southeastern United States. In addition to his work in music and liturgy at St. Andrew’s, Nathan served as Academic Dean, Director of Studies, and Chair of the Department of Classical Languages and taught courses in Latin, Greek, English, and religious studies. Nathan received a B.A. in Classics from Yale University and M.A. in Liturgical Music (Organ) and in Theology (Liturgy) from St. John’s University School of Theology in Collegeville, Minnesota, where his organ teachers were Kim Kasling and David Jenkins.

Currently living in Madison Heights, Sean has a background in Criminal Justice after studying at Madonna University. Previously working at Nordstrom, Sean came to CCC with the desire to help toward the creation of important work that is both meaningful and essential to the community. Outside of work, you are most likely to find Sean at the movies or keeping tabs on sports—in particular baseball!

Nick grew up in Royal Oak and attended Royal Oak schools. Playing hockey and soccer were major parts of his life and led to a lot of unique experiences. Nick was blessed to visit Prague, Czech Republic to play hockey for 10 days. That experience ignited in him a love to travel. He loves the history, art, and architecture of CCC, and is honored and happy to be working here.

Don has always enjoyed working with the public. As a retired Kroger manager with 44 years of experience, Don now enjoys serving the parishioners at CCC in a less hectic environment. You have no doubt seen Don shuttling parishioners living at Fox Run in Novi and throughout the area on Sundays. He will now also assist with daily tasks such as opening the church for various groups and assisting the Facilities Manager when necessary.

Don is also a school crossing guard for Utica Community Schools. Don has been married to his wife Rachel for 44 years and they have one daughter, Michelle. Don is excited about his expanded role and although he is a member elsewhere, he is eager to participate in CCC functions and fellowship.

Kellie has worked in the field of Youth and Family ministry for 14 years. She has a 22-year old-daughter who finishing her Master’s degree in Social Work at Wayne State University and a 20-year-old son who is figuring out what he’d like to do in life. She has a passion for helping kids deepen their relationship with Jesus and others in their church community. She loves to travel, garden, and spend time with her family. This fall, she will travel to a tiny island to get married to an amazing man.

Sarah has been a member of Christ Church Cranbrook since 1997, along with her parents Graham and Ninfa, and grew up participating in the various youth programs, the Acolyte Corps, and Christ Church Choir. She is so excited to come home to CCC, utilizing her existing talents and giving back to a community that has been her family for so many years.

Sarah graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BS in Public Relations, minoring in Voice Performance. Prior to joining CCC, Sarah coordinated communications and marketing efforts at Friendship Circle, before most recently producing various content, experiential marketing and sponsorship programs for the Ford SUV platform at Global Team Blue. Additionally, she has spent the past three years as a freelancer for Funded Today focusing on brand, public relations and social media strategy for various crowdfunding projects.

Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and being in the big outdoors with her Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees puppy named Argos.

Gina grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Hope College with a BA in Accounting. She moved to the Detroit area for a job in the Southfield office of Plante & Moran and met her husband there. Gina and her husband reside in Bloomfield Hills with their four children. Gina is a CPA and prior to coming to CCC, she worked in audit at Plante & Moran, was the Business Manager at Marian High School, and most recently as the Controller for Stagecrafters Theatre. Gina is involved with Michigan Hands and Voices as a Parent Guide, working to provide the best outcomes for children with hearing loss. Gina is very excited to be working at CCC and being a part of this wonderful community!

Meredith comes to us from the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metro-Detroit (IFLC) where she worked as the Director of Programs and Education. Meredith has experience in budgets, grant writing, operations, administration, program and curriculum development, event planning and community organizing . Meredith has a BS in Biology, and a MS in Secondary Education.  She has also just completed a  graduate certificate in Non-profit Leadership. Meredith loves reading, hiking and spending time with her husband and son.

The Vestry

A Vestry member is a member of the congregation who has been called and elected by the Church to a sacred ministry of caring for the Body of Christ by supporting the Rector, attending to the life of the parish and being responsible for its fiduciary life.  Our Vestry members are dedicated to their parish and love God.  Get to know them by clicking on their bios.

My grandparents, Don and Katie Kipp, began going to CCC around 1930.  I was baptized at CCC.  My wife Kristen and I were married at CCC in 1994.  We have two children, Hannah and Alec, both are in college.  I currently serve as Junior Warden, Lead Verger, a Eucharistic minister and lector, and chairman of the CCC Investment Committee.  I am Senior Vice President at Multi-Bank Securities, an institutional fixed income broker/dealer headquartered in Southfield.  I attended Cranbrook high school and went to Denison University and graduated from Baylor University.

Christ Church Cranbrook has been a key part of my life since August 1990, when I married my wife, Nancy Sugimoto, at the church. We live in Bloomfield Hills and have raised three sons, Daniel, Matthew and Adam, each of whom have been active in the church from baptism through Sunday school, acolytes, mission trips and other activities. I have been blessed to be able to participate in a number of church activities over the years, including two trips to the Dominican Republic as a youth mission trip advisor, participating in the Parish Choir and Orchestra, and as a member of the Music at Christ Church Cranbrook Committee. In my work life, I am an attorney and partner at the Troy, Michigan office of Bodman PLC, practicing corporate and commercial law.

My wife, Spring and I, were married at Christ Church Cranbrook in 1982 and our adult children, Ashton and Jayme, were both active in the Acolyte program. Spring also served on Vestry and stays active in the Women’s Spiritual Group. By way of further background, I also served on the Search Committee for our former rector, Gary Hall, and was active on the Buildings and Grounds Committee for a number of years.

To further the mission of Christ Church Cranbrook, I would volunteer my time to work in the areas of Outreach and to help with the buildings and grounds. The experience, knowledge and skills I have gained at Robertson Homes and with Lighthouse of Oakland County should translate well to these to these areas.

I reside in Huntington Woods with my husband Mike and two daughters Elle and Emmie. I graduated from DePauw University in 2000 with a degree in educational psychology. After careers in teaching, retail management and raising my girls, I’m currently working towards my certification as a fitness instructor. I love any and all things regarding natural living, and in my spare time you’ll find me cooking, reading, exercising and finding adventures with my family. I currently serve as the vestry liaison for MACCC.

A life-long resident of Bloomfield Hills and member of Christ Church Cranbrook since her childhood, Marilynn has been teaching at Cranbrook Schools Brookside for 35 years. A graduate of Hillsdale College, Marilynn is married to her husband Michael and they have an adult son Andrew. An avid skier and golfer, Marilynn loves to be outdoors enjoying every one of the four seasons. When school is in session at Cranbrook, Marilynn enjoys a variety of responsibilities in addition to her day-to-day teaching. A member of the Cranbrook’s Design Thinking Team, Marilynn works closely with colleagues to foster collaborative learning and best practices throughout the school. At Christ Church Marilynn currently serves on the Children and Youth Committee and has worked in the past with a variety of youth programs.

Charlie joined Christ Church Cranbrook officially in 2001 and was appointed to the vestry in 2017, where he serves on the stewardship committee. Charlie recently concluded a 40-year career as faculty member and administrator at Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School and currently serves in the area of school advancement as director of stewardship for Cranbrook Schools. He brings experience in the areas of personnel, fund-raising, and youth outreach programming. He taught for a number of years in the Horizons–Upward Bounds (HUB) program and was named a Diversity Champion in 2012, by the Race Relations and Diversity Task Force of the Community House.

I grew up as a member of Christ Church Cranbrook.   My wife Sarah and I rejoined CCC in 1991 when we moved back to the area and our oldest child was baptized.   We have raised three children who participated in the life at CCC.   This is my second term of service on the Vestry, having previously served as a vestry member, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.   I am currently a member of the Personnel Committee and the Usher Corps.  In my professional life, I am an attorney and partner at the Troy, Michigan office of Dickinson Wright PLLC, practicing municipal finance law.

Steven Huprich has been a member at Christ Church Cranbrook since 2014.  He and his wife, Donna, have two daughters who have been active participants in the church’s youth ministry.  Steven is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy and has had 20 years in higher education training individuals to become clinical psychologists.  He also has a private practice in Northville.  Steven’s interests at Christ Church include the eucharistic ministry and lay reading, parish health activities, and worship and music.

I came to Christ Church Cranbrook as an adult along with my family: my wife, Penny; son, Ethan; and daughter, Glennie.  Both Ethan and Glennie grew up in the church, attended Sunday school, served as acolytes, and are now away at university.  I serve on the Finance Committee and am in my first year as Treasurer.  I also am a member of the Usher Corps.  In my professional life, I am an attorney and partner at the Troy, Michigan office of Dickinson Wright PLLC, practicing commercial litigation and eminent domain law.

Eleanor “Coco” Siewert, an educator, is currently a trainer and consultant on effective meetings serving many organizations in the public and non-profit spheres as a professional parliamentarian. Coco has degrees from Wells College, Cornell University, and Wayne State. She held elected positions on the Baldwin Library Board and the Birmingham City Commission serving two terms as mayor. For many years Coco worked at Wayne State in the office of the President and then for the Law School Dean. Her career ranged from first grade teacher to graduate school adjunct faculty. Married to Robert they have three adult children and eight amazing grandchildren.

The Rev. Canon Dr. William J. Danaher, Jr. is Rector of Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Canon for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan. Previously, he was Dean of the Faculty of Theology and the Huron-Lawson Chair of Pastoral and Moral Theology at Huron University College in London, Ontario, Associate Professor in the John Henry Hobart Chair in Moral Theology at General Seminary in New York City, New York, and Associate Professor of Theology and Ethics at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. In 2016, he was named Pastor of the Year by the Metropolitan Christian Council of Detroit and Windsor. In 2014, he was named a Luce Fellow in Theology by the Association of Theological Schools. In 2004, he was made a member of the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, New Jersey, and in 2004, we also received the Bishop Hines Award for Preaching, a national award for sermons that connect the Scriptures with current social justice issues. He received his Ph.D. in Religious Ethics from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, his M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, and his A.B. in History from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. His publications explore the intersection of theology, ethics, and, most recently, the arts.

Pastor Manisha is responsible for coordinating and developing the church’s mission and outreach activities, caring for the communications and IT of the church as well as overseeing the pastoral care of the congregation.

Pastor Manisha Dostert grew up as a Jain (a religion from India) and was baptized in the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod (LCMS) at the age of twenty-six. After working in a lab at Duke University researching the immunological characteristics of sickle cell anemia (she has a B.S. in Biology from Penn State), she received a Master of Divinity at Duke and was ordained in 2002 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She has served various congregations in North Carolina and Michigan. Most recently, she was part of Spirit of Grace Church in West Bloomfield, MI, a Lutheran-Episcopal community formed from three churches.

Pastor Manisha loves the Church. She believes there is no better way to live than being part of a community that is diverse, universal, subversive and transcendent. She sees it as a place where all can operate out of the joy, hope, mercy, forgiveness and love that God abundantly gives.

She is married to Troy, a history teacher at Cranbrook Schools, who has a Ph.D. in Political Philosophy from Duke and reviews free jazz in his free time. Their son is Miles.

The Reverend Imogen Rhodenhiser is responsible for participating in worship and pastoral ministries. Pastor Imogen’s areas of concentration include worship and liturgy, children and youth ministries, preparation for the rites of confirmation and baptism, and spiritual formation.

Pastor Imogen was born in Ottawa, Canada, to English parents and spent her childhood in Connecticut and her adolescence in England. After graduating from the University of St. Andrews with an M.A. in English and Italian, she worked for the publisher W. W. Norton & Company, and was based in New York City and then Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In 2010, she began discerning a call to the priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan as a member of St. Clare’s Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor, where she served as the co-chair of the Stewardship Commission, as well as on the Vestry.

Pastor Imogen spent three years serving congregations in North Carolina. She graduated with an M.Div. from Duke Divinity School and was ordained to the priesthood in 2016. Her joy lies in building up the beloved Body of Christ, proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to all God’s children, and serving God’s Church in humility and sincerity.

Pastor Imogen’s other loves include singing, running, and pouring over languages, both ancient and modern. She is married to Giles, an attorney, and they have a son named George and a German Shepherd mix called Vivian.

Chris Harris comes to Christ Church Cranbrook from San Diego, California. Chris serves The Episcopal Church as a member of the Board of Directors of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS) and as a member of the steering team for Invite-Welcome-Connect, a national evangelism ministry. Chris is also the creator of Living Wi$ley, a faith and personal finance ministry and is a national speaker on congregational development topics, including The Consortium for Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP), The Episcopal Church Foundation (EFC), and Evangelism Matters. Chris is married to Joe, a native of Sterling Heights, Michigan. Chris and his husband have two twin girls, Gianna and Aleena.

Pastor Joyce joined Christ Church Cranbrook in 2005 and served as an Associate Rector until her retirement in 2018. Joyce currently serves on the Diocesan Council and has served on several other committees for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan: Vice President of Whitaker Institute Board, Healing Racism trainer and the President of the Standing Committee.

Joyce was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from U of M where she graduated with distinction with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education, she gained a wealth of experience in healthcare. Her breadth of knowledge in the respiratory therapy field earned her the opportunity to be the director of respiratory Therapy programs at several area hospitals. Pastor Matthew has also ben an educator at the University of Detroit and Highland Park Community College and part of the adjunct faculty for the University of Michigan School of Education and Wayne State School of Anesthesiology.

She received her Master in Divinity degree from Seabury Western Theological Seminary in 2005.

Joyce is married to Lauriant and they have two daughters, Renee, a medical doctor in Chicago, Illinois and Alycia, a manufacturing operations manager for the DuPont Corporation in Valdosta, Georgia.  Joyce and Lauriant reside in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Jill Bednas was born and raised in Michigan and holds a degree in Communications from Michigan State University. She was confirmed and then married at Christ Church Cranbrook in 2001 to Scott Bednas, a lifelong Episcopalian.

They have two boys, (Pierce and Reece) and recently moved from Glen Ellyn, Illinois back to Michigan to be closer to their families. Jill was very involved in her former church, St. Mark’s Episcopal church, during the eleven years they lived there. She taught middle school Sunday School, helped build the St. Mark’s Preschool and lead the Parish Life hospitality ministry before taking a staff position as Director of Children’s Ministries in 2011.

For the past three and a half years Jill successfully lead and grew the children’s programs, offering formation from nursery through fifth grade at all three services, including a new Spanish Language Service.

Lanette has recently joined Christ Church Cranbrook as the new Bookkeeper. She brings with her over 15 years of business experience along with a Bachelor degree in Sociology and an MBA in Finance.

Lanette and husband James, have 4 children ranging in age from 6 through 19. The eldest currently attends University of Michigan, while the younger children are all still in grade school. Lanette, being a devout Christian, is excited about working for Christ Church Cranbrook, and although her and her family are members elsewhere, they are all eager to participate in CCC functions and fellowship.

Originally from Grosse Pointe, Janice received a degree in Communications from Michigan State University and was a member of the Spartan Marching Band. During her career, Janice lived in Colorado for 10 years, working in the ski and hospitality industries, teaching ski lessons and meeting guests from around the world. She has also worked in the nonprofit sector, and the automotive marketing and retirement benefit industries.

Outside of her career, Janice has been an avid volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Less Cancer 300 Mile Bicycle Ride, HAVEN, the American Cancer Society’s Laps for Life Carve Out Cancer event, and various ski-related fundraisers that support Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Programs.

Janice now resides in Berkley with her two teenage boys who attend Berkley High School, is still an avid Spartan fan and loves music. Janice is appreciative to be part of the staff at CCC and looks forward to greeting the visitors, church members and volunteers that contribute to our fourfold vision, as she finds delight in being one of the many faces of God working at CCC!

Anthony earned his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphases on Business and Religion from Rochester College in Rochester Hills, MI. He serves as a liturgist and deploys digital communications technology to further the mission and vision of CCC. Anthony is a Candidate for Ordination to the Priesthood in The Episcopal Church.

Kate was born and raised in the Presbyterian Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Kate along with her husband, Albie, became members of Christ Church Cranbrook a little more than three years ago. Kate and Albie have two sons, Nate and Sam.

Kate has had involvement in children and youth ministry for her whole life – from a participant many years ago – to more recently, a Sunday school teacher at CCC with grades 2 and 3. She has also been a leader on youth mission trips.

Kate studied Architecture at Miami of Ohio and worked a number of years in the industry coordinating efforts for the launch successful projects. She has an eye for creative design and a love of photography – her passion for connecting people and places to foster a cohesive community brings her great joy.

Donna has extensive experience with handbells and is an expert in this field. She served in the same capacity at Birmingham First Presbyterian Church for 15 years and was also a 12-year member of the renowned handbell ensemble, Classical Bells. Donna is a specialist in the repair and maintenance of handbells and was employed in this capacity for many years with Schulmerich Bells, LLC.

Donna lives with her husband, Patrick, in Clawson and works for BASF. In her free time, she loves to participate in cross-fit, gardening, bird watching and baking.

Christopher Wells is from Annapolis, Maryland, where he began his organ studies with James Dale at the United States Naval Academy. Mr. Wells received his undergraduate degree in organ performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music on the Dean’s Talent Grant. During these years, he absorbed elements of the Anglican tradition serving as Organ Scholar at Saint Paul’s (K Street) in Washington, D.C. and taking lessons at Washington National Cathedral. Mr. Wells took his Master’s in organ from the University of Michigan as a student of Robert Glasgow. While there, Mr. Wells also served as Assistant Organist at Christ Church, Cranbrook, in Bloomfield Hills from 1999-2002. In addition to
accompanying Christ Church’s four choirs, he was soloist for Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings as well as the premieres of Enid Sutherland’s Alpha and Emma Lou Diemer’s In Hope We Sing, Alleluia!. Starting in 2002, Mr. Wells was the Director of Music and Organist at Christ Church, Bronxville, where he directed a comprehensive music program of five choirs. He was the founding
director of SHA!cappella, Bronxville’s acclaimed a cappella ensemble. As a recitalist, he has appeared in many venues across the country, among them Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Saint Thomas Fifth Avenue, and the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, all in New York City.

Christopher is now back at Christ Church Cranbrook where he has recently assumed the position of Music Director and Organist and directs the Christ Church Cranbrook Choir. The choir leads the congregation in singing and presents prepared anthems at the on the second, fourth, and fifth Sundays from September through June; as well as holiday services, special concerts and other events. The Christ Church Cranbrook Choir is a widely acclaimed advanced ensemble that sings a greatly varied repertoire, including a significant amount of standard sacred choral literature from all periods of music.

Prior to his work at St. Bartholomew’s, Nathan had served at St. Andrew’s School, an Episcopal boarding school in Middletown, Delaware, for 17 years where as Organist-Choirmaster he led the St. Andrew’s Choral Scholars in chapel music and in a Royal School of Church Music training program adapted for high school students. The Choral Scholars regularly sang in churches throughout the mid-Atlantic and made concert tours to Cuba, Eastern Europe, and the southeastern United States. In addition to his work in music and liturgy at St. Andrew’s, Nathan served as Academic Dean, Director of Studies, and Chair of the Department of Classical Languages and taught courses in Latin, Greek, English, and religious studies. Nathan received a B.A. in Classics from Yale University and M.A. in Liturgical Music (Organ) and in Theology (Liturgy) from St. John’s University School of Theology in Collegeville, Minnesota, where his organ teachers were Kim Kasling and David Jenkins.

Currently living in Madison Heights, Sean has a background in Criminal Justice after studying at Madonna University. Previously working at Nordstrom, Sean came to CCC with the desire to help toward the creation of important work that is both meaningful and essential to the community. Outside of work, you are most likely to find Sean at the movies or keeping tabs on sports—in particular baseball!

Nick grew up in Royal Oak and attended Royal Oak schools. Playing hockey and soccer were major parts of his life and led to a lot of unique experiences. Nick was blessed to visit Prague, Czech Republic to play hockey for 10 days. That experience ignited in him a love to travel. He loves the history, art, and architecture of CCC, and is honored and happy to be working here.

Don has always enjoyed working with the public. As a retired Kroger manager with 44 years of experience, Don now enjoys serving the parishioners at CCC in a less hectic environment. You have no doubt seen Don shuttling parishioners living at Fox Run in Novi and throughout the area on Sundays. He will now also assist with daily tasks such as opening the church for various groups and assisting the Facilities Manager when necessary.

Don is also a school crossing guard for Utica Community Schools. Don has been married to his wife Rachel for 44 years and they have one daughter, Michelle. Don is excited about his expanded role and although he is a member elsewhere, he is eager to participate in CCC functions and fellowship.

Kellie has worked in the field of Youth and Family ministry for 14 years. She has a 22-year old-daughter who finishing her Master’s degree in Social Work at Wayne State University and a 20-year-old son who is figuring out what he’d like to do in life. She has a passion for helping kids deepen their relationship with Jesus and others in their church community. She loves to travel, garden, and spend time with her family. This fall, she will travel to a tiny island to get married to an amazing man.

Sarah has been a member of Christ Church Cranbrook since 1997, along with her parents Graham and Ninfa, and grew up participating in the various youth programs, the Acolyte Corps, and Christ Church Choir. She is so excited to come home to CCC, utilizing her existing talents and giving back to a community that has been her family for so many years.

Sarah graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BS in Public Relations, minoring in Voice Performance. Prior to joining CCC, Sarah coordinated communications and marketing efforts at Friendship Circle, before most recently producing various content, experiential marketing and sponsorship programs for the Ford SUV platform at Global Team Blue. Additionally, she has spent the past three years as a freelancer for Funded Today focusing on brand, public relations and social media strategy for various crowdfunding projects.

Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and being in the big outdoors with her Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees puppy named Argos.

Gina grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Hope College with a BA in Accounting. She moved to the Detroit area for a job in the Southfield office of Plante & Moran and met her husband there. Gina and her husband reside in Bloomfield Hills with their four children. Gina is a CPA and prior to coming to CCC, she worked in audit at Plante & Moran, was the Business Manager at Marian High School, and most recently as the Controller for Stagecrafters Theatre. Gina is involved with Michigan Hands and Voices as a Parent Guide, working to provide the best outcomes for children with hearing loss. Gina is very excited to be working at CCC and being a part of this wonderful community!

Meredith comes to us from the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metro-Detroit (IFLC) where she worked as the Director of Programs and Education. Meredith has experience in budgets, grant writing, operations, administration, program and curriculum development, event planning and community organizing . Meredith has a BS in Biology, and a MS in Secondary Education.  She has also just completed a  graduate certificate in Non-profit Leadership. Meredith loves reading, hiking and spending time with her husband and son.

A Vestry member is a member of the congregation who has been called and elected by the Church to a sacred ministry of caring for the Body of Christ by supporting the Rector, attending to the life of the parish and being responsible for its fiduciary life.  Our Vestry members are dedicated to their parish and love God.  Get to know them by clicking on their bios.

My grandparents, Don and Katie Kipp, began going to CCC around 1930.  I was baptized at CCC.  My wife Kristen and I were married at CCC in 1994.  We have two children, Hannah and Alec, both are in college.  I currently serve as Junior Warden, Lead Verger, a Eucharistic minister and lector, and chairman of the CCC Investment Committee.  I am Senior Vice President at Multi-Bank Securities, an institutional fixed income broker/dealer headquartered in Southfield.  I attended Cranbrook high school and went to Denison University and graduated from Baylor University.

Christ Church Cranbrook has been a key part of my life since August 1990, when I married my wife, Nancy Sugimoto, at the church. We live in Bloomfield Hills and have raised three sons, Daniel, Matthew and Adam, each of whom have been active in the church from baptism through Sunday school, acolytes, mission trips and other activities. I have been blessed to be able to participate in a number of church activities over the years, including two trips to the Dominican Republic as a youth mission trip advisor, participating in the Parish Choir and Orchestra, and as a member of the Music at Christ Church Cranbrook Committee. In my work life, I am an attorney and partner at the Troy, Michigan office of Bodman PLC, practicing corporate and commercial law.

My wife, Spring and I, were married at Christ Church Cranbrook in 1982 and our adult children, Ashton and Jayme, were both active in the Acolyte program. Spring also served on Vestry and stays active in the Women’s Spiritual Group. By way of further background, I also served on the Search Committee for our former rector, Gary Hall, and was active on the Buildings and Grounds Committee for a number of years.

To further the mission of Christ Church Cranbrook, I would volunteer my time to work in the areas of Outreach and to help with the buildings and grounds. The experience, knowledge and skills I have gained at Robertson Homes and with Lighthouse of Oakland County should translate well to these to these areas.

A life-long resident of Bloomfield Hills and member of Christ Church Cranbrook since her childhood, Marilynn has been teaching at Cranbrook Schools Brookside for 35 years. A graduate of Hillsdale College, Marilynn is married to her husband Michael and they have an adult son Andrew. An avid skier and golfer, Marilynn loves to be outdoors enjoying every one of the four seasons. When school is in session at Cranbrook, Marilynn enjoys a variety of responsibilities in addition to her day-to-day teaching. A member of the Cranbrook’s Design Thinking Team, Marilynn works closely with colleagues to foster collaborative learning and best practices throughout the school. At Christ Church Marilynn currently serves on the Children and Youth Committee and has worked in the past with a variety of youth programs.

Charlie joined Christ Church Cranbrook officially in 2001 and was appointed to the vestry in 2017, where he serves on the stewardship committee. Charlie recently concluded a 40-year career as faculty member and administrator at Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School and currently serves in the area of school advancement as director of stewardship for Cranbrook Schools. He brings experience in the areas of personnel, fund-raising, and youth outreach programming. He taught for a number of years in the Horizons–Upward Bounds (HUB) program and was named a Diversity Champion in 2012, by the Race Relations and Diversity Task Force of the Community House.

I grew up as a member of Christ Church Cranbrook.   My wife Sarah and I rejoined CCC in 1991 when we moved back to the area and our oldest child was baptized.   We have raised three children who participated in the life at CCC.   This is my second term of service on the Vestry, having previously served as a vestry member, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.   I am currently a member of the Personnel Committee and the Usher Corps.  In my professional life, I am an attorney and partner at the Troy, Michigan office of Dickinson Wright PLLC, practicing municipal finance law.

Steven Huprich has been a member at Christ Church Cranbrook since 2014.  He and his wife, Donna, have two daughters who have been active participants in the church’s youth ministry.  Steven is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy and has had 20 years in higher education training individuals to become clinical psychologists.  He also has a private practice in Northville.  Steven’s interests at Christ Church include the eucharistic ministry and lay reading, parish health activities, and worship and music.

I came to Christ Church Cranbrook as an adult along with my family: my wife, Penny; son, Ethan; and daughter, Glennie.  Both Ethan and Glennie grew up in the church, attended Sunday school, served as acolytes, and are now away at university.  I serve on the Finance Committee and am in my first year as Treasurer.  I also am a member of the Usher Corps.  In my professional life, I am an attorney and partner at the Troy, Michigan office of Dickinson Wright PLLC, practicing commercial litigation and eminent domain law.

Eleanor “Coco” Siewert, an educator, is currently a trainer and consultant on effective meetings serving many organizations in the public and non-profit spheres as a professional parliamentarian. Coco has degrees from Wells College, Cornell University, and Wayne State. She held elected positions on the Baldwin Library Board and the Birmingham City Commission serving two terms as mayor. For many years Coco worked at Wayne State in the office of the President and then for the Law School Dean. Her career ranged from first grade teacher to graduate school adjunct faculty. Married to Robert they have three adult children and eight amazing grandchildren.
